This page offers a table of Italian verb tenses / moods to show all of the tenses / moods , which are simple and which are compound and how they relate to each other. For plodders like me these tables are a help when trying to fit the pieces of the jigsaw together!

To explain in case the table is not clear, the S / C column indicates if the tense is simple or compound. Simple tenses just need the main verb; compound tenses need an appropriately conjugated auxiliary verb (either avere or essere) along with the past participle of the main verb.
